Venerable motorboat photographed on 8 May 2011.
Built in 1904 of steel by Bergsunds Mekaniska Verkstad, Stockholm, yard no. 311.
When built: Length overall: 19.2 m, Beam: 4.9 m, Engine: Avance.
Now: Length overall: 20.16 m, Beam: 5.1 m, Engine: Scania DSI 11 R 82, 229 hp, 168 kW. Max. speed: 9 knots, Passengers: 54.
Delivered in 1904 to Bergsunds Mekaniska Verkstad as "Nya Avance" to J. V. Svenssons Motorfabrik, Augustendal. In service between Augustendal, in the Nacka municipality (where I used to live, by the way) and Slussen, in the centre of Stockholm city.
1914 Renamed to "Avance II".
15 April 1936 Laid up.
1937 Sold to Marinförvaltningen (Swedish Naval Administration) for 7,000 Swedish crowns and renamed to "Märsgarn". Used to transport naval personnel to Hårsfjärden for Stockholm's Örlogsvarv (Navy yard).
1980 Sold to A-M Rehbinder.
1980 Sold to Restaurang AB Pankakshuset, Stockholm.
1987 Renamed to "Sigtuna Express".
1992 Renamed to "L'Avance".
1993 Sold to Björn Östlund, Stockholm, and renamed to "Avance II". Rebuilt at Pampas Marina, Solna, Stockholm. Upper deck removed.
2000 Sold to Rederi AB Dala Husby, Dala Husby, and renamed to "Dala Husby". Much of the hull changed by Oxelösunds Båtvarv. Transported by truck from Gävle to Dala Husby. Into service on the Dalälven (Dala river) on the route Avesta - Hedemora - Dala Husby.
2001 New internals.
9 July 2007 Sold to Klave Rederi AB, Smögen and renamed "Svea af Smögen".
2008 Put into service on Sotenkanalen (Soten Canal).
22 May 2009 Sold to Claes Cleasson, Sotefjorden Rederi, Smögen.
18 June 2010 Sold to Göteborgs & Bohusläns Rederi AB, Göteborg.
